Abstract

PT.Tigade Artha Samudera Bandar Lampung is a shipping agency service company that serves ships for both domestic and international routes. The focus of the discussion in this paper is the agency services by PT.Tigade Artha Samudera Bandar Lampung related to handling Bill of Lading loading documents for export ships. Bill of Lading or bill of lading is a valuable document that plays an important role in export-import activities. This document functions as a contract or agreement for transportation between the owner of the goods (Shipper) and the recipient of the goods (Consignee), as well as being official evidence that the goods have been loaded onto the ship. This document aims to facilitate transactions between sellers and buyers when the distance between the two parties is far apart due to geographical factors or national borders, with this document both parties can carry out buying and selling transactions without having to meet face to face safely. As a shipping company, PT. Tigade Artha Samudera Bandar Lampung provides various facilities and services in export activities, one of which is engaged in the Liner Service Agency, and has the responsibility to handle and issue shipping and cargo documents such as Bill of Lading documents. The Bill of Lading document handling procedure is made by considering various supporting aspects as a reference in issuing a Bill of Lading, such as the completeness of supporting documents such as SI (Shipping Instruction), PEB (Export Notification of Goods), Cargo Manifest, etc. This process must also involve several related parties such as government agencies, goods owners, goods recipients and other parties to expedite the process of handling documents and cargo. In addition to the external factors above, the process of handling and issuing Bill of Lading documents also cannot be separated from the role and cooperation of inter-company lines that coordinate with each other. In writing this paper, I use field research and library research methodologies.
